ASTRONEF TYPEFACE
It was in 1976, in the extremely popular movement of the “machinales computrices typefaces” inspired by science fiction and the post-second war movement of new worlds that Jean Alessandrini (typographer, designer, writer, illustrator, born in 1942 in Marseille) produced Astronef typeface in cut paper, this futuristic curiosity typical of the years pre-80’s era. Nearly forty years later, during the making of Revue Diorama No.2, Geometric City, Astronef was digitally developed and adapted to an extended Latin glyphset to cover a greater number of languages. The development was followed and validated by its author, and it is on his advice that Astronef is finally published today, not as a revival, but a real updated version.
